Whats a good light weight rifle?
My .243 is finally wore out after 18 years of use. I tried using my dad's .270 because he leaves it at the farm but its too damn heavy. Whats a good gun in a .270 thats lightweight? Id be open to other calibers but getting a .270 makes more sense because I can share ammo with my Dad and Brother who also shoot .270s. All we have ever owned are Brownings but even composite ones feel heavy to me once you put a nice scope on it. Budget for just the rifle is $800

You might could find a Sako A7 that would fit the bill.

My favorite of 2 dozen is the Browning A-Bolt .308
Light, balanced, fair price (especially if you can find a used one in great condition), and best yet you can shoot it all day long, as far as needed, and is D.E.A.D.L.Y. accurate.
Kicks like a kitten !
It is about 9-10 years old, and the new one is the X-Bolt.........I bet it is even better

I got a Savage Model 11 Lightweight Hunter in a 308, it is a really nice gun, shoots extremely well. It weights just 5.5lbs and comes in various calbers, both long and short action. When I bought mine I wanted one in a 260 but they only had a 30-06, 270, and a 308 in stock. I didnt want to wait so I bought the 308. I couldnt be any happier. I topped with a Leupold Ultralight 3-9X, it is a pleasure to carry.
Here is a link showing them.

If you look arround you can get the Lightweight Hunter for $700-$800, I believe mine was just a little under $800 out the door.

I love my Tikka T3 Stainless Lite (in 270 WSM)...it's light and handles well and is a tack driver...love the trigger and smooth action! I also have a Savage Model 11 (7mm-08)...it's super light (almost scary light), accu-trigger is nice and it shoots like a dream. You should be able to find the Tikka around $550 and the Savage Model 11 was recently on sale at Cabelas for $499 I believe. I love my 270's...all in all one of my fav calibers and my go to's for Whitetail! I also have a Browning A-Bolt Medallion in 25 WSSM...it's quite light and handy as well and also shoots very nicely.
