1'' high at 50 yards?

If I sight my Remington 30-06 with 150 gr. Core Lokt's in 1'' high at 50 yards will it be dead on at 100? And how would it hit at 200? thanks

If you're using 150 gr Core-Lokts at 2910 fps, BC of 0.314, sighting 1.0" high at 50 yards, you're going to be 0.9" high yet at 100 yards, "dead on" at 135 yards, and 3.4" low at 200 yards (ref. Loadbase 3.0)

Thanks. Sounds good to me to sight in 1'' high at 50. Can you send me the link to where u got the info at? thanks

Yeah that link or equation would be great! I always sighted my guns in 1" high at 25 yards hoping to be dead on at 100 yards.

I'm guessing the distance and height would change depending on cartridge/velocity?

If 1 high at 25, you will not be dead on at 100.

You really should sight in CF rifles at 100 yds to begin with. Just about all standard cartridges will be sighted optimally if they are 2-3" high at 100 yds. If you intend to shoot at game at any distance greater than 100 yds, you should confirm where your gun is hitting at that range if possible.

Unless you don't have access to a range longer than 50 yards, it's best to sight in at 100 yards or greater.

The only link I used was to Remington's site, in order to obtain the ballistic coefficient of a 150-grain Core-Lokt bullet, and the velocity of the factory loading. Remington DOES provide basic trajectory information, but not using a 50 yard sight-in distance.

Velocity and BC are then plugged into the ballistic software I use (Loadbase). Since I don't know specifically the velocity YOUR rifle launches the bullet, your results may vary slightly.

+1. Try to make use of MPBR.
