.338 Win Mag, sighted in at 2" high at 100 yds. will be approx. how low at 200 & 300 yds.?

Assume a 225 gr with a muzle velocity of 2780 fps, and a scope that is mounted 1.5 inches above the bore.

1.5 inches HIGH at 150 yards
8 inches low at 300 yards
24 inches low at 400 yards

CoolBrz - What 225 grain bullet and Ballistic Coefficient (B.C.). ? You can use www.biggameinfo.com to figure trajectories just plug in the bullet weight, B.C., and velocity and it will calculate a sight in range for you.

Everybody has their own sighting system, but putting it 2.5 inches high at 100 yards would probably give you a MPBR of 275 yards, or so.

I'm shooting 250 gr. Barnes TSX for Alaskan Brown bear, not sure of the powder, velocity, or BC? What's MPBR? My guide & outfitter handloaded them... Been shooting out to 300, just want to see how the 250 TSX I'm shooting compares to other .338 Win Mag bullets.

Buy a scope with a BDC reticle and take the ammo you will be hunting with to the range.

Here's something i'd consider VERY strongly - that there may be a REASON that your guide and outfitter handloaded them. Rather than worrying about max point blank range, you might give them a shout and find out what ranges their clients are usually shooting from.

I'd also find out what power magnification they're recommending as well. Having a brown bear on the run toward you is no time to find that you left your super sniper on 14-power. My bear rifle wears a 1.5-5x heavy duplex.

B.C. - Ballistic Coefficient, which is how aerodyanmic the bullet is. The higher the B.C. the more aerodyanmic.

Typically you can get this number from the bullet manufacturers website. At least you can for Barnes, Hornady, Nosler, Speer, and Sierra among others.
