I have a Charles Daly in .25-06. It' s the same mauser formerly imported by Interarms. It' s nicely finished, blued, smooth action, and generally a well done piece. I bought it as a barreled action and fitted my own walnut to it so all I can comment on is the metal.

The rifle and barreled actions known today as Charles Daly, used to known as the Mark X Mausers about 10 years or so ago, if I am not mistaken. From my understanding they (Charles Daly) are coming from the same manufacture that made the Mark X and Whitworth Mark X mausers for many years. If this is indeed true, then the Charles Daly Mausers should be decent rifles and actions. I built several custom rifles over the years off of the Mk X and Whitworth mauser actions, they were great and easy to work with, as compared to working with some military M98' s.

I wish they (Charles Daly) would include they 98 Mauser single shot action back in there line up. I have rifles 2 myself built off that single shot action, a 22 BR and 6.5x284, with 1.200" barrels, double set triggers, etc., and both are real tack drivers.
