A few gun values???

Wifes great aunt is wanting to sell the 3 guns her husband owned (he passed several years ago). He wasn't a hunter, the guns are "closet queens", I never even knew he owned them but I will know for sure their condition tonight if I can get by there to check them out and get serials for exact dates.

I feel the guns are most likely 60s-70s MAYBE early 80s vintage but I'd bet they are most likely the former knowing my wifes uncle.

1). Colt 1911 Mkiv Series 70, .45acp: (she says no rust, scratches or dings but didn't say anything about box or papers)

2). Winchester '94, 30/30: (again, no box/papers and I'm assuming it's a standard carbine)

3). Winchester model 1200 12ga: (again assuming a standard, field grade edition with most likely a 26"-28", non Winchoke barrel, plain jane "meat n taters" shotgun)

I'm "thinking" $600-$700 on the 45, $300-$350 on the 30/30 and $200 on the 12ga.

I hope to get by there tonight and look them over to know just exactly what they are but I'm just trying to get my "baselines" in order assuming they are decent, regular production models. The only things that really pop into my mind are two.

1). If the .45 is a 1970s vintage Gold Cup model (I've read about the serial beginning with 70N vs those ending with 70N) what's that do for value?

2). Aging the 30-30, if it's a pristine pre-64 does that make it worth more than $400? Being she's family I don't want to screw her but I don't want to overpay either. I'm not buying to resell, just keep "family guns" in the family and pickup a few more guns "just because" I love 1911s, I want a 94 30-30 and the 1200 would be the perfect pump to modify into a "street sweeper-home defense" scattergun for cheap $.

What yall think? :confused0024:

Not to hurt anyones feelings but 1200s are junk IMO. I had one about 25 yrs ago, shooting slugs would shear the screw off holding the bolt to some cheesey metal plate. After fixing it the 3rd time and adding an extra screw the gunsmith told me to get rid of it or stop shooting slugs.

It's ok FS, I have a BPS, 870SM, 1300FW & 835UM. I just bought the cheap ol 1200 to make a home defense "blackgun" out of. ;)

Well I dug around on the net best I could today & then went over to her house this aftrn with a envelope of dead Presidents. I was surprised to see that the Colt was in nearly perfect condition plus DID have the box & papers. It is a B70 suffix which from my findings says a 1979-1981 mftr. (the booklets in the box are copyrighted 1978 as well). I paid $700 for it.

The Winchester 94 is a 1966 edt. very very clean with neat color cased receiver with scrollwork. Paid $300.

The 1200 pump is just what I figured, plain jane "meat n taters pump" but in great shape. Will soon put pistol grips & a extd mag on it for a "housesweeper" to sleep with at night! Paid $200.

She's happy, I'm happy (even my wifes happy, they belonged too her uncle ) & I have another Colt 1911 now in the safe! ;)

Thanx emt, & despite amassing guns (especially rifles) for nearly 30yrs now this was my first 94 as well. I found out it is a "Antique Carbine" edition which began in '65 or '66. Colorcase "finish" on receiver, "gold plated" loading gate & saddle ring & nice if somewhat brighter walnut stocks. Doesnt add value as they werent limited editions, but they certainly have that classic look. I'm not scoping this one but will be putting a peep rear & fiber optic front bead on it for easier aiming.

I shot the Colt & the 94 Friday, they were alot of fun. I can't put ths Colt dwn! :)
