Fmj= barrel wear?
my brother came by this morning and told me not to buy any full metal jacket ammo, he said it will wear the gun barrel out in less than a thousand rounds. is this true?, i use federal 115 grain fmj to target shoot and hollow points for defense. thanks

Your brother doesn't know what he's talking about.
A FMJ bullet is no different than any other jacketed bullet, such as your hollow points, except that the FMJ bullet has a solid tip and exposed lead base instead of an exposed tip and solid base. Basically a FMJ is made backwards from the way a hunting or target bullet is made. |

If your brother gives you any advice about girls, I'd proceed very very carefully!:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin: |

Barrel erosion and wear is more due to high pressure and hot gases. All bullets are softer than your steel barrel. |
X4---Sorry, but your bro is full of baloney!
