Default Slugs through a cooey 840 full choke?

Hey guys, I just bought and old cooey 840, barrel reads 2 3/4-3" also "Winchester proof steel" would it be safe to shoot 3" slugs through this gun? Oh its a crack barrel single shot..

I wouldn't in an old gun with a full choke like that. You can even open up a full choke on a newer gun forcing certain slugs through them. Normally an improved or modified choke at most is best for slugs.

Yes it would be safe to shoot 3" foster-type slugs through it. We shot those slugs through our full chokes all the time. They are designed to go through choked barrels. But, I don't think it would be pleasant. and I don't think it would be very accurate.

Don't know if it is still true, but Remington Sluggers used to be the smallest diameter foster type slug.
