OP is a KY hunter, not Indiana. I might agree with you about the slugs, but I've never been in that position, so I'd have to think about it. I'm a bit of a velocity-junkie (different than magnumitus), but the energy difference even between a .44mag and a 12ga slug is a big difference.

I HAVE been looking for an excuse to pick up one of the Savage 212 sluggers though! But thankfully, I don't have to make that choice, since KS is a rifle friendly zone!

I'd sure be looking for more than a 357 for deer hunting....It might work from a rifle barrel but there's far better choices out there!
