airline travel??

SO when I go to Wyoming later this year for a Elk Hunt, can I have my rifle and handgun in the same case? There is nothing on the airlines site covering the question.

Why not just ship them "ups" before you go? Your going to someplace with address.

Alex you shouldn't have a problem. I take 2 guns alot when I fly and don't h a problem. The problem with shipping them is I think the reciever of the gun has to have a ffl license.

Only if your making/building or selling guns.

Ship them by UPS to yourself in care of the outfitter at the address of your outfitter. Since they are not changing hands it's that simple! Then send them back to your home address the same way when the hunt is over.

as long as I can have my handgun and rifle in the same case during transportation on the plane, I'm good. I'm not using a outfitter.

You should be just fine carrying both in the same case. I always try to phone the check-in counter of the airline to ask when I have a question. Even if you have the printed rules with you, it might be a good idea to ask the folks that are going to actually handle it.

You can not ship a firearm without it going to an FFL...even if shipping to yourself and regardless of it changing ownership...

Some airlines limit the number of firearms you can check...I believe Delta limits it to 4 (no more than 2 rifles and 2 shotguns???)...I have checked as many as 4 in one case (double sided double rifle case) more than once when traveling, so shouldn't be a problem.
