What do you consider good accuracy for pellet gun?

I don't come from a gun family, so I don't really know what is considered good accuracy with a pellet gun. I just went out and shot 5 pellets from a Crossman Pumpmaster from Walmart at 30 yards and had one bulls eye and kept everything in a 2 inch group. Then I backed out to 40 yards and shot 4 times and the group expanded to 2.5 inches (Including the original group) and I took one shot at 50 yards and was way off... I hit low on the target way off to the right. (I was having trouble standing still on an angle because of a hill) Is this pretty average?

That looks pretty good. How are you shooting it? Offhand, and by that I mean are you standing and shooting, not leaning on anything? The more you can rest that gun, the better you will be. Try shooting off a table, us backpack or something to rest your gun. Like I said, the more rest and support you can have, the better the accuracy will be. Give that try and see how your groups look.

That is a good idea to try that. I have just been standing and shooting.

Put her on a rest, that group will tighten up.

a pellet gun can hit a cheerio at 25 yrds if you cant then the problem isnt the gun its you

it depends on the gun. Some of your high powered springers, an inch size group at 20 yards is really good. Ive got a benjamin discovery pcp that shoots .3 inch groups at 20 yards. But yeah, you need to be shooting from a rest and bench to really get an idea how accurate the rifle is.

it all depends on the pellet..

that is very good groups.
i nail blue jays and black birds @ 50 yards,i am using a 10 x scope.

MANY variables, I won't begin.

Addressing yer experience/ performance is par. Try different pellets and pump combinations.

A good springer, one hole groups at 15 yds easily.

Good luck and seek out an airgun forum to get into the guts of this animal.
