Remington 700 SPS
I was looking at this gun up close, it has a black coated bolt. Does anyone know if this wears or gets scuffed up as it is cycled back and forth. Does anyone own one that may know. Huntr2

Yes it will but it is one of the best guns I have ever owned for the money. I bought one in 300 Ultra mag years ago. It was a shooter. I wish I would have kept it. Now I have a Remington XCR 300 ultra mag with a lot of gunsmith work. It's a great gun but it doesn't shoot any better than my SPS did and I spent a ton more dough on it.

Proud owner of a 700 SPS DM in .243.
Mine is a "shooter" also ! I wished the stainless came with a detachable magazine. Definately going to get scuffed-up ......................but that's from a lot of use ! |
I bought my son a Rem 700 SPS 308 compact. Most of the marks on the bolt come off during cleaning and its a non-issue for me. we're very pleased with the performance.

I have one in 243. Didn't like the plastic stock so i restocked it with a Boyds laminate.Better looking, better feel and it shoots better.

rem. 700 sps
i have two of them. one is a 243 varmit rifle and the other in a 30-06 standard. i like both of them. both shoot well especially the 243, but it was meant too. it is used for groundhogs. the 06 is my deer rifle. i worked up loads for both. never looked at the bolts but color means nothing to me as long as they shoot well.

I have one in 243. tremendous shooter. Can't say anything else.

I have an ADL with about 1500 rounds through it. It wares at the contact points but not a lot. Their coating is very good. I wouldn't let that stop you.
