Gun Safes - is this the right forum?

I was looking for some advice on gun safes. I do not see any other areas to post in and this seemed the most logical.

Would this be the place to ask about gun safes?

Sounds good to me...lots of folks that have guns - have a safe. :)

I am trying to decide between a digital or dial type of lock. I live in Phoenix Arizona, the safe would be kept in the garage. For about 4 months a year the temperature in the garage remains above 100 degrees (even at night). I expect that kind of heat will cause burst batteries. I really do not want to worry about battery acids ruining the lock, should I just go with the dial type in this situation? Are there any other things I should consider when keeping a safe in a hot area of the house?

Thanks!

I would say dial where you’re going to be leaving it in the garage. But you do know if it’s 100 degrees outside your safe It’s going to be even hotter in side.

It’s going to be even hotter in side.
Is that a problem for unloaded weapons?

I'm also getting into the market for a safe. Anyone know the best place to get one?

I'm looking for smaller one that can hold in the 10 -11 gun range.

the digital one sux. they or the motor(solenoid) inside go out, yer fubar. i was lucky mine opened 1 more time lol.
get the old school style. make sure its a 40 gun safe, cause they didnt count on scopes when they made that number. try fer at least a 45 min burn..2 hour is even better.

I wanna laugh at this but I somehow can't. It's true, I've never had a good experience with a digital safe, and I've never recommended one. Old fashioned works best, and in my opinion are more sturdy anyway.
