Ordered my first Cooper

I ordered my first Cooper about a month ago!! I went with the Jackson Hunter in a 25.06. I also ordered the fluted barrel with it also. I wish I would have went ahead and got the Jackson Excalibur and I would have got all of the above plus a fluted bolt also. I just wish it didn't take so long to get it in. Looking forward to getting it!!

Sounds good. The last Cooper build I had took 7 months as I furnished the stock blank for it.

Holy cow! Man I hope it doesn't take that long. They told me 3-5 months.

Once you get it, you are gonna like your Cooper. The wait seems like forever, though. I bought a Custom Classic in 257 Roberts last year and I love it. I also have a Browning A Bolt in 25-06 and it is my favorite deer rifle. Enjoy.

Good things are worth the wait !

Congratulation on your purchase - great reputation.

Great choice. I've had a Jackson Hunter in 25-06 for several years. It's a keeper. Mine also took about 6 months (as I remember). Scoped it with a Swaro AV 2.5-10 X 42 with the TDS reticle.

Did you order it directly from Cooper, or from a dealer? Just curious.

I ordered from a dealer. That may be one reason it took awhile. All I know is that it is well made and shoots great. My only complaints are:
1). It's kind of heavy
2). The safety is rather small

Other than that, no issues what-so-ever.

I ordered mine thru First Stop Guns. Mark was a great guy to deal with. They saved me about $150 over everyone I had shopped.

Here's a shot of my 6.5x284

25-06 shoots ok, 120gr Sierra and R-25 @3100fps

onetohunt 01-16-2012 04:50 AM

sweet doubleA. The 6.5x284 will be my next round. I just love the .25 and wanted it to be my first!

onetohunt 05-06-2012 07:42 AM

Well I finally got the gun in and it looks great!! I will have to get some pics posted, I have not had a range break-in session yet, but I'm planning on spending a full day pushing some handloads through it before long!!

bugsNbows 05-06-2012 08:43 AM

Congrats and good luck!

3 years later I ordered my second Cooper

Well I loved my first one so much that I ordered a second one!! I went with a big bore on this one. Synthetic stock, stainless fluted barrel, spiral bolt, roll over cheek piece all in a 300 Weatherby. The stock will be olive with black splash!! They say the delivery time will be about 4 months, that will be quick compared to the first one!! Oh well, my next Cooper will be a 22-250, I know, counting my chickens before they are hatched, I just know that I want my next one in a wood gun with a stainless barrel.

bugsNbows 01-03-2015 12:14 PM

My second was a M54 Custom Classic chambered in "The Bob". Tis a mild mannered beast that shoots typical Cooper groups. Have not bloodied it... yet!

GOOD OLE BOY 01-03-2015 02:28 PM

Why would you all want to get a special custom Cooper and have in in plastic when they have beautiful wood stocks?

Mine is the Custom Classic Model 54. It's walnut and high lustre bluing.

redgreen 01-04-2015 07:30 AM

Congrats on a great rifle in two great calibers. The 2506 is hard to beat, and the 300 will do it all with interest.

Some put function as their #1 priority (For some accuracy is everything) !

Unless of course, the wood ones shoot better ?!?!

I will use these two guns in the synthetic for a lot of practical use in the field and not going to make safe queens out of them or just shoot them off of the bench. I have thought about it a lot and do not think I could justify putting nicks in that beautiful wood. That is why I guess. Oh well, I love the Coopers no matter what they look like!!!
