Remington 1100
If you use or have used an 1100, do you think it matters how old it is? I use a 1963 and knock down hundreds of crows every season. What do you think?

Rem 1100 ?
It makes no difference how old any firearm is if it does the job.
I have no idea how old my 1100 is. I got it in a trade from a fella who said he bought it new. The shotgun is 2 3/4" chambered without screw-in chokes. It does the job I expect. I killed a 15lb gobbler this past spring. GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!! |
This Christmas makes 25 years I've been having mine (20 Gauge). My Dad got it for me when I was 15. Still in great shape and I've never had a problem with it.

The old ones are much better quality than the new ones. I love the old ones, and you should have little to no problems with it. You shouldn't worry about it's age.

As long as it is good shape, age not the issue. One of my favorite deer rifles is a Mauser in 6.5x55 SE amde in 1932. Shoots exceptionally tight groups and is a reliable as any rifle I have.

I bought a 12ga 1100 at a dept store chain back in 1973 or 1974. It was a plain non vented barrel choked Modified for 159.00. I have used it but not in recent years. It has never failed to fire. It even has the original "O" ring seal. This shotgun looks like it's brand new. Remington came out with great shotguns with these 1100's and their world famous 870's.
As for age. Age has nothing to do with it as long as it was maintained. |

I bought mine in the same time frame. I replaced the original plain barrel with a newer vent rib barrel with RemChokes back about 13 years ago. I still use it for turkey hunting with an aftermarket choke and Hevishot.
