I am looking to buy a new rifle it will be a Savage 116 Accutrigger Accustock or Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 in 270 Win. I know the obvious differences. My only concern is true accuracy between the two any personal experience is appreciated I lean toward the Weatherby for 2 reasons longer and heavier barrel I am going to buy one of these rifles soon and would like some input is the accuracy of the Savage enough to compensate for the longer and heavier barrel of the Weatherby? any help would be appreciated thanks Chad

I lean toward the Weatherby
Good....it's a no brainer IMO....the Vanguard trumps the Savage easily.....not so much in accuracy but in reliability....it's simply a better rifle.

I also vote for the Wby Vanguard.

Proud owner of a Savage 16 FCSS weather warrior in .204.

Accutrigger & accustock - love it !!!

Super accurate !

My decisions are basically down to the

T/C Venture and Weatherby Vanguard Series 2...

I would take the Vanguard over the Savage after handling both of them today.

so tell us.....what did you get?

I'd take the Savage, but that's just me. Everyone has a different opinion of what's best.

They are both good guns..my daughter and niece both hunt with Vanguards in .243...but I believe the Savage has the edge on its trigger alone...easily adjustable and crisp...not as nice as a Tikka trigger, but pretty darn close and for the $$ you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal than a Savage.

I'm in the same boat. I have been rifle shopping for a while. I counted out the vanguard because of the trigger. It's a nasty creepy trigger IMO. I really like the savage. I'm looking at the 111 w/ accutrigger. I love that trigge and savage is known for supreme out of the box accuracy. Also looking at the tc venture but I haven't heard great thins about them accuracy wise and hear they are very picky about loads. Another one that I have heard great things about and am really looking forward to checking out is the marlin XL7. I have heard amazing things about this guns accuracy and trigger. Trigger is up there with the accutrigger. Plus it goes for under 400$! The weatherby's and TC's are good looking guns but when that buck of a lifetime is infront of me I'm going to go with accuracy over beauty everyday.
