Are Turkish Mausers still available

I have had my C&R license for about a year and haven' t bought anything with it. I was thinking about buying one of those $40 Turkish Mausers but couldn' t find them anywhere. Does anyone know of a dealer that is still selling those things?

I saw someone selling them in Shotgun News. I will look again when I get home and let you know.

I saw an ad like that, but when I called the company they had sold out. Apparently they sell those ads months in advance.

http://www.ellisonsmilitaryrifles.com/products2.htm this place has them, but they' re a little high compared to some places. www.southernohiogun.com did have some, you might call them and check. I' ve ordered several of the under $40.00 Turks and all have been well worth the money.

diyj98, You stole my thunder! I too was going to suggest Southern Ohio Guns. They had been advertising Turkish 38 Mausers from 39.99 to 69.99.

Also a place called Federal Arm Corp. of America has Turkish 1903' s, 1938' s, and 1893' s listed from 24.95 (poor to fair) to 39.95 (good to very good). I do not know if they have a website or not, but their info is:

Federal Arm Corp. of America

Fridley, MN 55432

Fax (763) 780-5747

I bought one from F.A.C. in Fridley and there very good was like other peoples fair.
I have bought several from S.O.G. and have been happy with them.
I have bought several guns on Auctionarms.com. A least you can see what you are buying.
Good luck

The turk mausers are OK.

For around the same amount of money I would suggest a Czech, something in the 28 range. The barrels and actions are usually in much better shape and are of better metal. For only a few dollars more you should get a much better shooter.

The turks will prob. get rarer faster though, if you can find one in good condition.

I agree, pay a bit more for a Czech 98/22 or VZ-24- much much better rifles for the money:) I still see a few turks around in sporting goods stores- they either have a termite eaten stock or a really bad bore- buy two and assemble a good rifle with them.;)

I' ve got to disagree slightly. I have several 98/22' s and VZ24' s and don' t really find the quality to be any better than the K. Kale Turks in similiar condition. I' m also not sure about the metal being better quality. Of course " similiar condition" is the key. You can' t compare apples to oranges.
