CC holsters?

Is anyone out there making a better IWB pancake holster than simply sewing two slabs of leather together and molding? It seems to me like there'd be a benefit in having a more tapered holster, 1) so the gun doesn't print as badly on the outside, and 2) it's more comfortable against the inside.

Is anyone making something like this? My idea is basically that the part touching your back would be more flat and body conforming, like a crossbreed Supertuck, but wouldn't have the outline of the pistol so prominent on the outside, a smooth/flat skin side, and a smooth/flat pant side.

If your using an IWB holster and your gun is printing through your pants then you should probably stop wearing spandex.

Now that right there is funny!

While I am not a big fan of IWB holsters, my favorites are the cheap Uncle Mike's ones. Not the most durable, no. However, they are more comfortable to me, and I could purchase 5 of them for the price of most leather ones.

Standing upright, no, my CC weapons don't print. But when I bend over, it's pretty hard not to miss the muzzle printing in the back, or when I twist at the waist, it's common that the grip heel will print on the back of your shirt. It's just a simple fact, spandex or not.

Then consider that my wife, sister, mother, mother in law, and sister in law (among other women in my life) all have their CCW licenses, and when it's hot and they're "steppin out in their tight fittin jeans", it's not very hard to spot their weapons.

I do actually like IWB holsters, but I haven't been very happy with most of the available options out there.

From an "engineering" standpoint, having a "filled" pancake IWB would help prevent the grip heel from twisting away from the body, as well as improve comfort against the body, and prevent printing in general.

I'm mostly looking for something that would be more comfortable, like a crossbreed Super Tuck, but more compact like a DeSantis Soft tuck.

Maybe it's just me, but I have never found an IWB that was particularly comfortable. I did pick up a Simply Rugged OWB that's quite nice and way easier to wear. As long as I wear the correct shirts, etc. it's fine regarding printing.

I know what you mean, nomercy. Once, when bending over, I had a kid ask me what was sticking out of my butt! I told him he didn't want to know! When it comes to concealing on the small of your back, standing upright and sitting are about the only times that you are going to be able to fully conceal. For that reason, if I am going to have my shirt tucked in, I either carry in my pocket or with a shoulder rig (if I am wearing the correct jacket...all jackets don't conceal effectively for me). If having my shirt untucked, I keep it on my hip. If my shirt isn't long enough to cover it up at all times, back to the pocket. Tennessee has an open-carry policy. If folks wouldn't look at me funny walking into church (or any other place, for that matter) with my .45 strapped to my hip, I'd do it everyday! But, being a youth minister, I have a feeling some parents/random folks would take issue with that. Therefore I keep it hidden. There are a few places that I will not go without open carrying...backwoods places with some really rough folks. Other than that, I keep it concealed. Rarely, however, in the small of my back for two reasons; 1) it isn't very comfortable to me, 2) it isn't always effective in concealing.

I'm not a big fan of IWB small-of-back, but it's about the only option for my wife. She's none too big at 5' 3" and 125lbs, and like I mentioned, it's awful hard for her to conceal much more than a credit card under jeans (or dress slacks) and a fitted T or blouse.

My personal favorite carry position is front of hip IWB with a minimalist IWB clip holster (still trying to find a Techna Clip for the wife's LCP, would love one for my LC9). The problem I have with SOB IWB or FOH IWB is the bulk of the holster. Most IWB holsters aren't designed to form fit the body, nor the clothing, so they're uncomfortable, or printing/shifting becomes an issue. The Supertuck is remarkably comfortable, but it's also massive, and still has the outward printing issues.

My thoughts are to make a minimalist pancake style two clip that's structured at the top strap and trigger guard/underbelly to taper, rather than have abrupt corners.

Crossbreed Supertuck is the closest one ive found to like for IWB,nothings perfect..
