Weatherby 92, can it fire steel shot?

I just inherited a weatherby 92 pump 12 gauge that I know very little about. I also haven't been able to find much online other than that the 92s were made in Japan between 82-86. If anyone is familiar with this particular model I would like to know if it is capable of firing modern loads without damaging the barrel. I would like to take it duck hunting so steel shot is a must. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

As long as you don't fire it through a full choke, you'll be fine. If it has choke tubes, go with modifed or improved cylinder. I used to hunt ducks with an old Remington mod. 11 made in the 1930's. Fired a lot of steel shot through that gun with no ill effects whatsoever. My BPS was made in the 1980's and was made to have steel shot through it. The modified choke tube says "lead-modified, steel-full". I believe the Weatherby's were designed to use the same tubes as the old Browning Invectors.

I appreciate the input although I seem to be getting mixed opinions on the steel shot. I called Weatherby and spoke to a tech who had no idea they made a 92. For what it's worth, the tech said no steel but I'm guessing he was just covering his bases. Please keep the opinions coming.

I have a model 92 that I shoot only steel shot in. I use a Briley extended IM choke and a Hastings extended X full. I shoot #4s and #1s with no problems. The 92 is a wonderful gun, shoot yours and enjoy with no worries. Make sure the choke you use is rated for use with steel shot. My X full choke is rated for use with T & F steel shot but I have never shot any that big.
