Pros- it's a great looking gun.
Cons- it's a $1200 dollar jam-o-matic.

My gunsmith won't even work on them. He would rather see someone buy a Rock Island. He says they are better guns.

I like a Glock.

It's funny, my Kimber has never jammed. Maybe it's because I've only run about 1000 rounds through it so far...

They aren't light or small when compared to many of the others, but mine shoots lights out. Easy to take down and clean too. Not cheap, but not cheaply made.

They are a very well made pistol. When they first came out they had a jamming issue but that has long since been resolved.

Great pistols. They are not the easiest to take down, if you are getting one of the smaller, more concealable ones. Comes with a tool that you have to have when taking down. Not too much of a problem, but something to get used to. I would by no means recommend against getting a Kimber.

Doesn't sound like a gunsmith worth his weight in salt. I don't even know of a gunsmith that wouldn't work on one much less bad mouth them to rate another company over them.
And yes, I have one and trust my life on it everyday. It is one of my daily carry weapons. I have a Kimber Ultra Compact and have fired over 3K through it, Black Talon, CorBon, XTP. and more target than I care to count. No failures. Handload or factory. My other daily carry is a Les Baer Monolith.

To each his own. Just google "Problems With Kimber 1911's". You'll read plenty.
