i need a password for that,

i was looking into the 6.5 06 but wildcats make me nervous, i dont know why, in the case of that one i think to myself is it worth the cost over 25-06 or 270?

i am also considering the 260 which from what i can see is the exact same think with a slight disadvantage on case capacity

25 06 will flatten elk and moose with authority if applied properly. No critter has needed a second shot. They shoot flat, and I have never lost an animal using one. The 6.5x55 is an excellent cartridge, extremely accurate and is also offered in factory rifles. You can't go wrong with either one of them.

I have killed many a white tail deer with my 6.5x55 Se .... along with a few feral hogs up to about 350 pounds. I had a 25.06 Rem. 40 or so years ago. It did fine on deer, but for whatever reason I have moved towards 30 cal. chamberings since. I still use the 6.5x55 Se off and on and suspect I always will. With 140 gr. Partitions it'll do the trick on medium sized game. For elk? I have no clue. Have yet had the privilidge to hunt them.

wow, i didnt realize it was that easy, so there is no re-sizing before bullet seating?

newb question... what is top level charge?

is there much reloading data out for it?

and how do i go about getting a rifle for it?

do i need the 06 and 06ai dies for it to reload as well or just load it the first time with the ai?

is accuracy still good before its fire formed?

how is 6.5-06/ai recoil? how does it compare to the 25-06 or 6.5 swede?

this will be my first caliber reloading for

thanks, i will for sure look into that now, i was starting to lean to the 260 as well because of the rifle availability and the fact its not a unique brass case

Both the 25-06 and the 6.5x55 are geat cartridges. Given the bullet choices we have nowdays IMHO can make the 25-06 viable for bigger game. Both can be loaded with the lighter weight bullets for varminting. Take your pick between the two and be done with it.

I have most anything a hunter could want with handling anything that roams the earth. Having a 6.5x 284 and 6.5 Gibbs I still had a hankering for a 6.5x55 Swede and just got through with my latest build. It's more of a precision/F class gun and I'll use it for paper and steel. I am getting old and lazy and the hassle of fire forming doesnt impress me as it once did. If you want to improve anything I would suggest you just do an ackley something. I built a 223AI last year about this time and just started a 243 and am thinking of going an improved case.
