I killed my first 3 or 4 elk and a handfull of deer with a Savage model 110. Savage is not what I would want to own but I'd rather shoot the 110 than a TC or a wrong handed bolt gun. I think this is a great idea if the A-bolt is not left handed.

Colorado........just so we are on the same page the T/C Venture is a bolt -action rifle......from what i've seen on the net an around here @ the local sporting good stores that is 1 hot rifle right now......very big demand......most everybody is back-ordered an they have no idea from t/c when they will be getting them in..

I can't comment on the TC venture. I have never even held one. The TC single shot is lacking, to say the least. Is the A-bolt left handed? If it is, your troubles are over. The A-bolt is my second favorite rifle and may be my first out of the box rifle.(within a budget) The Savage idea is very good also.

Sorry hadn't replied in quite some time but i did purchase the t/c venture 270 rifle about a month ago.purchased a vortex scope on it an bore sighted it, then off to the range i went......The 1st 3 rounds @ 50yds were just a touch high an to the left, but all bullet holes were touching.....backed off to 100yds an fired 3 more rounds, alittle low but dead center, made a coulpe quick adj to the scope an now 2inches high @ 100yds. the final group 3 round group measured .679.The action is smooth as glass, shoulders great, an the trigger pull is right at 3lbs.

500 total budget?
doesn't savage make a left hand in .270 for under 500??
up to you whether you want a lefty or not, if you're good all you need is 1 shot so it really doesn't matter, but if I was a lefty, a lefty rifle could only be more comfy.

Salukipv1, total purchase price was around $449, but also had a $50 mail in rebate.......so for $399 bucks it was a great dael...had a nikon monarch an a vortex sitting on my shelf but went with the vortex ........that gun really liked the Remington 130gr, did not like the hornady, winchester, rounds......gonna get a box of federal preminum an see how they do,not a big fan of the cheaper remmys in 130gr.

Kind of a moot point since you already bought the TC...but I too am a lefty and am challenged with finding rifles...but there are three good left-handed options that are usually easy to find and if you shop could probably all be had for around $500+/-...
- Tikka T3 (I have a Stainless Lite in 270 WSM that I paid $529 for NIB)...bought it from Sportsman's Warehouse...it was listed for $579 and the manager knocked $50 off without argument when I asked...smooth as glass bolt and best out of the box trigger I have on any rifle.
- Browning A-Bolt...while the one I have is a A-Bolt Medallion and in a rare caliber, so I paid much more than $500 for it...A-Bolts in left handed are relatively easy to find for $500 +/-
- Savage 110....I don't have a 110..but my Model 93 and Model 10 are both good rifles and deadly accurate and a 110 can be had for well under $500 and will far outperform the TC
All 3 of these rifles meet your price range... are left handed...and are superior rifles to the TC...and did I mention they all left handed...happy hunting!

emtrescue6........i did look at the tikka, an savage,as well as marlin an a few others.i already have brownings an rugers an even 1 winchester model 70.......but i will say 1 thing that t/c will shoot just as well as the 1's i already have....sounds like to me you already have 1 yourself since you are saying your's will far out perform the t/c......but just in case you don't have 1, you really need to squeeze a round off on 1 of these rifles.....an i bet you will change your mind.....imo.........have a great day, an shoot straight...
