Revolver cleaning question

Hello all. Lately I have been thinking about my revolver cleaning technique. Usually I completely disassemble the pistol. The videos I am seeing on the 'Tube show people just cleaning the cylinder, barrel and frame. Is it necessary to completely disassemble the pistol for every cleaning? Personal preference?

Thanks,
~Robert

I only (REGULARLY) clean the cylinder, barrel and frame. Now, if a person did tons of shooting (thousands of rounds weekly) it may be a different story.

That's what I do as well...I have 2 Blackhawks, one in .357 built in 1957 and a .44 mag 50th Anniversary...I pull the cylinder and clean it, the barrel and frame and call it good...

Now, if you are shooting a percussion black powder gun, I'd soak it everytime...
