Which Rifle 7mm or 300 sa. rem. or winchester wsm

Im gonna get a new rifle cant spend no more than 550. Ive narrowed down my picks. Remington 700 7mm or 300 short action ultra mag., weatherby vanguard 300 wsm, or winchester model 70 the new short action in 7mm or 300wsm. Was wondering if there was much difference in the rem. and win. short action. And what do you all think about the wby. vanguard pretty cheap for a wby. I can get a rem. 700 for 528 in these calibers, and the vanguard stainless is about 500, and the win. model 70 for about 425. I would appreciate as much help as possible thanx alot.....

I like the 700 rifle but I have doubts as to the remington short magnums lasting very long.The weatherby vanguard is simply a howa rifle with the weatherby name stamped on it.The howa rifles are actually quite well made and are reasonable priced.I believe that the wsm' s will outlast the remington short mags so my choice would be the howa/vanguard in 300wsm

Ditto on what stubblejumper said.

You might also want to take look at the Howa rifles themselvs. Very well made rifles. Around here a laminated thumbhole stocked, stainless steel rifle goes for $550. They have a very solid and beefy recoil lug, flat bottom receiver, one piece forged bolt with substantial gas ports, anti bind recoil lug, and a surprisingly nice and crisp trigger right out of the box.

Hi Bow tech,
I just bought 2 WSM,I realy like them.I went with the winchester because I don' t think Rem SA will stick around.
I bought 1 Feather weight 300 WSM in June and 1 of the Super Sporters in 300wsm for the weight diffrence in july(why I don' t know:D).It weighs in at 7 1/2lbs with scope,ring,bases,and full mag.It is great shoot,I paid 449.00 for it.I seen them at Wally-mart for 389.00 with scope last weekend.
As for your picks I would go Winchester,Howa(WTHBY) they are all good rifles.

The Howa rifles are great I believe. They shoot shoot very well for the price. I' d check out the Tikka too. I paid just under $600 for my Whitetail Hunter in 7mm R.M. and it shoots MOA;

4th target is 1 5/8" at 200 yards:

2 9/16" and 3" at 300 yards;

a good gun would be a remington 7mm STW its 300mag casing necked down a 7mm bullet. its cable of long range with tight groups. its a lot faster than the 300 because of the smaller bullet. i cant rember the price it was around 600$ i hope this helps.

tree hunter:

I don' t mean to disrespect you or belittle you, but the 7mm STW' s case is a 8mm Rem. Mag. case necked down to 7mm. Good Shooting!

I would not recommend the 7mmstw to anyone that does not handload.Factory loads are loaded very mild and do not utilize the cartridges potential.
