Took my Bushmaster to the range yesterday.

Yesterday I took my Bushmaster Varmiter Special SS to the range, it is quite impressive the groups this AR will shoot!

Here is a 15 shot group at 100 yards that can be covered with a dime, this was not using a vice, just a couple of sandbags off the hood of my jeep.

Here is the same group covered with a dime.

This is why I like Bushmasters, and why I have no problem buying a factory built Bushmaster, opposed to building one out of some mismatched parts in order to save a few dollars.
This was shot using, Hornady 40gr. V-max's, Remington cases, CCI Magnum Small Rifle Primers and WC-844 Powder.

fritz1 04-10-2011 06:52 AM

90% of the varminters shoot like that, reguardless of who made it.
RR

Right!! LMAO!!!, You just like to argue dont you?

Colorado Luckydog 04-10-2011 07:19 AM

Nice shooting Fritz!! What kind of scope do you have on that sucker? You just gave me the black gun fever again. I'll get it from time to time and go buy an AR. After I shoot it for a while, I always go back to my bolts but I have never had one that shoots like that. I may have to get a Vaminter!

Thanks! I have a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x with mil dots on it. I just got the scope not long ago, I love it, it has great optics. I always had Leupolds but have read nothing but good reviews on these so I decided to give it a try. I am very pleased with it.

fritz1 04-10-2011 12:33 PM

Nice shooting RR, but 3 shots is quite a bit different than 15. You act as if this is my first varmiter, I have had a DPMS, Colt and this Bushmaster. Neither the Colt or the DPMS would shoot as good as this gun, that is why I said HAD. This is from my personal experence, shooting several thousand rounds over the last few years, the Bushmaster is a superior weapon when it comes to accuracy.

fritz1 04-10-2011 01:34 PM

RR, I figured as much long range shooting that you do, you could post a better group than that! Why are you using remanufactored ammo? I thought you were the know it all handloader. Just saying!!! Hey maybe you can get that accuracy from other brands, I havnt, like I said, this is my personal experience with my rifles. You can say all you want, I know what works for me, I have experimented with other rifles, including a Colt Sporter H-Bar Elite and a DPMS Varmiter.

fritz1 04-10-2011 04:24 PM

Not worth my time argueing with you RR! Buy a progressive loader and you wont have to buy remanufactored ammo. I have a Hornady Lock and Load I use just for my 223's I can load 400-500 rounds in a hour easily. To be honest I wouldnt be proud of that group that you posted RR, I didnt even let the barrel cool on mine and was shooting standing up resting on the hood. The gun is capabable of better accuracy than that, is yours?

fritz1 04-10-2011 05:04 PM

Here in northern Idaho our gun ranges are gravel pits, you can drive anywhere on it! We can shoot anywhere, there are no designated "Gun Ranges" arround here! Unless you want to drive about 40 miles or more, I can shoot all I want less than a mile from my house and yes it was a true 100 yards. I have a Leupold RX-1000TBR laser range finder to verify my yardage.

We have both been warned about argueing on here several times, if you have a problem take it to private message. I dont feel like getting banned today!

BigJ71 04-11-2011 10:26 PM

Fritz1 and Ridge Runner, great shooting both of you, far better than I could pull off.

That being said, I'm not going to comment that all bone stock AR's can shoot the groups you both have posted but I will say I've seen many, many targets with those types of groups out of bone stock varmint AR's.

Also, it is a fact that with the exception of a few companies all the AR's are parts guns. I was just at the Rock River Arms plant in Colona, IL. last week picking up a barrel (mid length lightweight) and the parts manager and I got on this very subject.

He confirmed that indeed they purchase most of their parts from the same few manufacturers that 90% of the other AR big name companies do as well. They put their own "fine touches" to them but they are all basically the same. I know Rock River uses a completely different fire control group than say DPMS or Colt but they are pretty much the same stuff.....all mismatched parts guns.

DeerandbearhoG 04-12-2011 02:26 PM

if the parts are mismatched the gun wont fire:s2:

the only difference I can see between a parts gun ,and a factory AR15 is letting the factory put the "mismatched parts" together for you.

South33 04-12-2011 03:02 PM

haha
This conversation cracks me up!
There is nothing here worth arguing over...

You can make any decent gun shoot tight groups if the right load, optics, & rest are used & it isn't like a 100 yard shot is a long shot... at least not where I come from...

With that being said, that 15 shot group is outstanding & that gun has more than proved itself.

Hey fritz, you look like kind of a redneck in that pic... :D

And I had already decided if I ever bought an AR that was the one I would get. Nice shooting!!

We've finally run out of meaningful things to discuss when we're down to the "Ford is better than Chevy" garbage.

when has it ever not been "ford vs chevy"? come to think of it when has any topic on this forum been meaningful?:s2:

WELL THIS IS BEING WATCHED BY ADMINS - I REPORTED IT.

No sense trying to publish rules at this point.

If it stays civil with no more personal attacks - hey great!

haha
This is like a bunch of kindergardeners crying because they didn't get the last graham cracker... if everybody was so sure & right about there points on what gun is better or who was a better shot than why would there be a need to cry & whine because someone doesn't agree... does somebody need a hug??

I'm not quite sure that's a fair thing to say, either. There's been quite a bit of rather objectively-presented information passed through this board. That's not to say that those instances where communication devolves into an electronic argument aren't more "memorable?"

There are a lot of people here who could stand to wear their hearts and their egoes a bit less far out on their sleeves, though. When we take ourselves so seriously that someone else must be wrong just so that we can be right, this is what we wind up with.

Everything here is relative. Like most boards, this one reflects personal experiences, personal preferences, and personal opinions. People should take all of those for what they're worth and nothing more.

All you have to do is start at the beginning of this thread and follow it and you'll see what happens and by who. Then do something about it or him.

Nope, you'd have to go to some other threads and see who started what and what happened to know whats going on in this thread...

Sheridan 04-13-2011 08:55 AM

The 15 shot group speaks for it's self.

Congratulations..............good shoot'in !

Most would be asking; What were you shooting, etc ?!?!

As far as I can tell, the op made a inaccurate claim about AR15s built from parts and his factory gun which is esentially a parts gun assembled at a factory, and RR adressed it. If fritz didnt wanna stir the pot he shoulda just posted some pics, and left it at that. so what if people argue anyway, are we that thin skinned? :rolleye0011:

warbirdlover 04-13-2011 12:02 PM

Okay. I guess no one called each other dirty names or anything.. :happy0157:

Blackelk 04-13-2011 12:33 PM

I've shot groups better than that on full auto...................... LMAO

South33 04-13-2011 03:45 PM

Comments like the one above is how these "hostile" threads get started...
(I understand he was kidding but it is a great example.)

jerry d 04-13-2011 04:43 PM

I think that was said in jest........just saying.

Sheridan 04-13-2011 07:05 PM

33,

I agree with Jerry - I think Blackelk was trying to be funny.

LOL at the end................might have helped.

fritz1 04-13-2011 10:01 PM

All I did was post a target, I did not try and start any arguement, I stated my personal experince on several different AR's that I have owned, like I stated this is just what I have experienced and was my opinion. Just because a gun is assembled useing the same parts doesnt mean crap!! Every rifle is different!, You can have two identical Remington 700's, they use the exact same parts but one might shoot 1" groups the other might shoot 3" inch groups, same goes for a AR, They are not the same regardless of what certain people would like you to believe. I guess certain people just want to argue. If anyone took offence to anything I posted, I am sorry, I apologise.
Years ago I bought my first Ruger 280, nice gun but it was finicky as hell, I could only get it to shoot good with Hornady 139gr. bullets, I sold it. Now I have a different Ruger 280, it is identical and I am pretty sure it is made using the exact same parts, the difference, this one shoots any bullet that I have ever shot in it extremely well!

Blackelk 04-14-2011 04:32 AM

I do agree with that Fritz I've bought to firearms of the same make at the same time and one not be a shooter and the other one is.

LMAO = Laughing My Ass Off. LOL will work too. Whatever. People really do look for stuff to rip each other apart.

Knock Knock?

South33 04-14-2011 02:53 PM

haha
Its never going to end!!

warbirdlover 04-14-2011 04:13 PM

Well I like both of you guys (fritz1 and rr) so I need you two to get along and I think you will.... :party0005:
