Remington Stainless Mountain Guide 7mm-08
 

Finally scraped enough $ together to pick up my new rifle. It's a Remington Stainless Mountain Guide in 7mm-08. Basically it's a Mountain Rifle with one of the Titanium series stocks. A previous owner had a Remington detachable mag cut into it. My buddy bought the gun two years ago and never shot it. I paid $650.00 for it with a Burris Fullfield II and Leupold mounts. I think I did pretty good. The DM install was done by a pro, it looks factory. These guns were a special run available only through Gander Mountain. Anyone know of anyone that has one and how do they like it? Gonna be working up some loads for it, first one being 120gr Ballistic tips. Should be just the ticket for deer.

those superformance loads really seem to make it shine, if they shoot well something to consider, or load some yourself...

Sounds like a great rig.IMO the 7-08 is one of the finest cartridges on the market.For deer I would suggest going with a 140-150gr bullet over the 120.I've taken quite a few deer using these weights in my 7x57 and they work great plus they provide a lot more confidence should you run into a bear.I found IMR 4350 works well in my Ruger M77 with these weights.

I have a Savage Model 11 GCNS Bolt-action 7mm-08 Wood Stock/Blued Barrel with the Accu-Trigger and its a great looking gun and it shoots very good,the only bullets I could find for it was Remington or the Winchester 140 grain bullets...even the "Managed Recoil" shells were in 140 grain.What brand of shells did You find were in 120 grains...or are You hand-loading the bullets Yourself?


I think 120 grain bullets would be a good start and an ideal weight!

I'd like to know how to get a hold of one of those stocks. Sounds like a great rig...I have a similar gun in .260.

I'll be handloading the 120's. My last 7mm-08 loved plain old 140 gr. Corelokts but I've read that alot of guys roll their own using 120 Ballistic tips with great success. Where I hunt I really don't have to worry about running into any bear so that's not a concern.

I believe that they are made by Bell & Carlson, but don't hold me to that. It has a plain black pebble finish. I'll try to get so pics up tommorrow.

I'd say so. Sounds like a very nice gun, and perfect for deer as you mentioned. I'm a big fan of the 7mm-08.

Bell & Carlson makes some really good stocks, I got a Bell & Carlson Carbalite stock on my stainless Ruger MKII 77 280, I cant stand the boat paddle synthetic stocks that use to come on Rugers, Love the Bell & Carlson, made the Ruger go from ugly to a very sharp looking gun and it is a way better stock than the original.
