Ruger All Weather
 

Shot one of these @ the range in 308cal. I know some guys don't like the trigger on rugers but to be honest with you it felt better than the trigger on my remington. Seems like a nice gun and suprisingly mild recoil.

Actually what I do not like in the "All Weather" is the stock. That canoe paddle looks hideous.

They have a reputation of being over built - I like that, but a little too heavy for a walking stick for me !

I like the synthetic stock and the stainless barrel.

I like the extractor.

I like the safety.

I like the idea of bases machined into the reciever, but it appears that you are only able to attach the rings in one "spot".

I do not like a floorplate, I prefer a detachable magazine.

I always get a basic trigger job then set at 3lbs. & I have the barrel hand lapped (unless already done by manufacturer) and I have the recoil pad replaced with a Pachmyr Delecerator pad (except on my .22LR & my .17 HMR - of course) on all my new rifles.

Over all, other then "my" preferences, good gun !

I do like the ruger but i'm partcial to the model 70 but wouldn't count the ruger out

I have several of the All Weathers and they do a fine job. I've had a few with good factory triggers and others I had reworked. They can be cleaned up real nicely.

RobertSubnet Ruger hasn't used a Boat Paddle stock in many years. Some like them and others don't. It's a matter of personal taste.Check the All Weathers with the new synthetic stocks. There's a big difference.

The difference is, the the remington trigger is adjustable.

Different (Better) than fire lapping !!!

I have one in .280 with the SS barrel.It's ultra accurate with Feds 150gr load.I've yet to better it with any of my reloads.The pad that came on it is pretty good as is the trigger.I'm sure there are better aftermarket pads and triggers available but I honestly see no need to replace either.
