.300 WBY is out....300 Win. or 7mm. Rem. Mag.?
Ok...the .300 WBY has been ruled out...which leaves the .300 Win. Mag. or 7mm. Rem. Mag.
I want this custom rifle built in a caliber that will cover 99% of all big game I'm going to hunt...deer to elk/moose.
I don't really think I could go wrong with EITHER the 7mm. Rem. Mag. or .300 Winny. ....just can't seem to decide which to go with.
Anyone been in the same spot picking between these 2 calibers?

I wish the 7mm RM and .338WM weren't shorter than the .300win.mag., man it really bothers me!
I'd shoot 160gr with the 7mm, 180 with the .300, but the 7mm with 175gr have such high SD's, either or could probably take anything in NA.
You said you were sensitive to recoil, maybe get the 7mm RM.
What are you planning to hunt anyway? mostly? if it was mostly deer and maybe an elk or moose one day, I'd say maybe just get the 7mm.
If you were gonna mostly do elk, and the occasional deer I may say get the .300 win.mag.
Is this going to be your 1 gun for everything?

To be honest, I like 7mm cals, but the 7 RM never really impressed me, bump it up to the STW and there is a big difference. for all intensive purposes from what I saw using the 7 RM, 270 wby, 270 win, 7mm/08, and 280 on deer, couldn't tell any difference, get the muzzle velocity to around 3400-3500 fps and there is a noticeable difference.

Surprised. I have an STW, and always wished it was a remmag.
I think I got the slowest STW known to man. I am lucky to get 3100fps with 160gr accubond with RL25, H1000, and 7828.
but Charley (mossy) gets 3050fps with 140gr accubond with mid load of RL22 and lot less powder.

Note the energy on the 7mm it exceedes the 300win after 300yds.Wind drift is less as is drop on the 7mm.Factor in the recoil is considerably less on the 7mm my choice would be the 7mm. I've shot both,the 300win kicks alot more IMO
