Default Looking to buy a 25-06, need some suggestions

I am looking to by a 25-06 for deer season(blacktail) this year. I have a list of makes I am thinking about and want to get your opinions on why one is better than the other and which ones to stay away from. I am looking to spend anywhere from $500-$1000 on the gun and dont need to worry about a scope as I have a Nikon waiting to be put on whatever I buy. So here are the manufacturers I am looking at. Let me know what makes one better than the other and which ones arent worth my time or money. Thank you

Remington 700
Ruger M77
Tikka
Winchester 70
T/C
Howa
Browning
Savage
Marlin

All of them will suit you fine, just go check them out in person and see which one fits you and your hunting style best.

You choose what you are comfortable with.
I will rank your choices: After the top 3 it is pretty much a crap shoot.
1-Remington 6-Tikka
2-Winchester 7-TC
3-Browning 8-Savage
4-Ruger 9-Howa
5-Marlin
P.S. I also perfer stainless steel with synthetic stock.

I plan on going to as many local gun shops as I can and checking out their selections to see what I like and what feels the best. I am pretty much set on the 25-06, I will also use it for coyotes and my FIL has some good loads worked up already for a 25-06.

The only ones I wouldn't go with, that you mentioned, are the Ruger or the TC.

Ruger- My friends and myself (and tons of others) have had less than prefered accuracy.

TC- I do not prefer single shots. (unless you are looking at their bolt)

I'm just the opposite, every Ruger that myself or friends have are excellent shooters. I just gave a stock to a friend for a MKI in .300 Win mag, its currently on its FIFTH bedding job! That's the one downside to Rugers!!

I would also take a good look at CZ...I'm not sure if they come in 25-06 though...

Default 25/06?

In your search pay close attention to barrel length. IMHO in order to get the "most" out of a 25/06 one needs a 24" barrel, minimum. That is not to say that a shorter barrel will not perform; but why have a high performance cartridge and not try to get the "most" out of it?
This is not meant to be argumentative. You asked for opinions and this is mine; an opinion based on over 30yrs of shooting the 25/06 and most other things .257.Also let me suggest that you look at the Wby. Vanguard.
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!

I had heard that about the minimum barrel lengh should be 24". If any of the above guns have a barrel less than 24" it will go down on my list. I forgot to add the Weatherby vanguard, I am going to take a look at that as well. Thanks
