I am really sorry to hear about that. I have babied two of Richard' s stocks so far and you better believe after all the work I put into them I didn' t spare the release agent when I bedded the actions. Sounds like you are owed a new stock.

Both of the ones I worked are on Savages too. Sure make it feel alot different than those factory stocks. What style did you get? I have a black custom rollover and a camo straight thumbhole. I think I actually like the rollover best. I have bedded several actions in my day and never had any stick to the wood. I guess since they are all my guns I tend to be more careful. What happened to yours shouldn' t have happened. I would look for a new gunsmith.

Sorry about your experience ...positively look elsewhere for a gunsmith the guy your dealing with is a butcher.

I am putting a dual grip thumbhole in Rosewood laminate on a Interarms 270 and have high hopes. This is a beautiful piece of wood. I plan on using this gun for deer hunting this season.

A gunsmith that can' t bed a rifle! Man, it' s not that big a job. Like frizzellr said, look for a new smith.

Good luck on the next one. Make sure that he pays for it too.
