7mm ammo

i would like some opinions on which grain of ammo i should shoot in a 7mm Remington magnum for hunting elk in Oregon, they would be spike only, i do not reload so it would have to be factory loads, i was thinking about 140 grain or 160 grain.

Check out barnes...I've got 160s on hand for that job but wouldn't feel undergunned with one of my new favorite do-all bullets--154gr SSTs

Winchester makes a 175gr for the 7mm.

My favorite factory round is the Federal Premium 165 gr. Sierra Gamekings BTSP. Outstanding accuracy and reliability with excellent penetration and expansion at short or long distance. The Federal box is marked P7RE. Excellent round.
