T.C. and Hunting Shows

Just a thought,Thompson Center must pay every hunting show made to use their guns! They are on every show you see.

yep them and sako, what happened to all the other classic gun makers like winchester, ruger, remington, marlin, savage? all forgotten and takin over by ads and money.

fritz1 01-16-2011 03:04 PM

They have to do something to get people to buy those things.:party0005:

bigbulls 01-16-2011 04:36 PM

How else are they gonna be able to charge $700 for a $250 rifle?

The biggger the company, the bigger the marketing & advertising budget.

BTW - That means Sako's is almost nothing in comparison.

TC must have learned the art from Mathews Archery!

I've just seen Savage as a sponsor on "Hunting with the Judge" (versus network) and of course Remington sponsors Mike Hanback's show. Also see Winchester has (and sponsors) the "Winchester Whitetail something-or-other" show. I think Remington was always a sponsor of "Buckmasters". Sako A7 sponsors "The Bucks of Tecomate" and Sako 85 sponsors "Federal Premium Dangerous Game". Thompson Center sponsors the one with "Mr. Whitetail" but not sure about any others.

Aren't they owned by Smith and Wesson? Got to be a lot of marketing money there....

The difference is Mathews is actually the best out there. Others have closed the gap significantly but not quite there yet. I've shot them all nothing beats a Mathews.

Well Sir, that is a matter of opinion. I too have shot a lot of bows and much prefer Hoyt, with Bowtech being a close second.

DeerandbearhoG 01-18-2011 06:26 AM

just MY op. but maybe 7-10 years ago mathews were the best, now several brands, top bows are just as, smooth, accurate, quiet, etc, as mathews top models. these days even the cheaper bows are pretty nice, compared to mathews bows from even 5 years ago. bows have come a long way in a very short time. Inline muzzleloaders too. great time to be a hunter:barmy:

I agree it's a good time to be a hunter. Lots of great stuff out there.

Onto my "opinion" of Mathews. Some bows will beat them on the draw and some will beat them on the release. But when you consider the draw and the release together, in my opinion nothing beats a Mathews.

Tom

I'll also add that if you consider the price. There are better choices. If money is no issue then I'd choose the Mathews everytime.

BTW - I always try to switch because the price bugs me. They just win everytime in my book.

For me Hoyt has always felt best. I like the feel of the solid wall that the Hoyts have.

Guys,

This is for threads under the heading called "guns" ??!?

OP - TC and Hunting shows

Remember ??!?

statjunk 01-18-2011 10:44 AM

I'm not sure if it was Rambo II or Rambo III where Rambo blows up quite a few things with just a bow. Does that qualify as a gun?

LOL

Tom

Doe Dumper 01-18-2011 10:56 AM

x3!!! It got to the point if I seen one of them I turned the show off.

skb2706 01-18-2011 11:11 AM

Personally I think watchin someone else hunt on TV is pretty silly regardless. There are just some things in life that require more than a "spectator" status.

Backwoods7 01-18-2011 12:00 PM

I agree here i've had my share of tc arms a omega 2 encore 50cals a 30-06 and 7mm08 encore and SOLD them all. None of them shot as the price would bring you to believe. Also the encore sold so well cause of the one gun all seasons ad campaign well it's true but for the price of a encore barrel you could buy a used Remington 700 or a new savage 110 so I'm threw with tc. Only one I got mows a tc renagade 54 and that's the only one for me
