To me the .308 is the best all around rifle. Many will differ, but I think it will do the job on most North American Game. Try one, you will like it!

The 308 is a great round has plenty of power to kill any game in the us. Might me light for grizzly but would work. If you aren't keeping the pelts there's no need in a designated predator rifle. As for Tikka rifles I like them. I have a T3 light staneless and love it have had NO problems. The gun is probobly the most accurate rifle I own and weighs hardly nothing perfect for what you want. Another gun you may like would be a remington model 7 they weigh a little less than a model 700 and are good shooters but I still would go Tikka

I have a 308 in the Savage Weather warrior. I must say, love the round, love the gun. after hunting with 7mm-08, 30.06 i just wanted something in between. the 308 is my new favorite. I got a box of 20 for $12 on sale (Rem Corlokts) and you can't beat that. The 308 is nothing sexy to hard core gun owners, but i view it as damn near perfect for deer, black bear etc..

I haven't shot any of the weather warrior series, but I have consistently heard great reviews about them. If you're wanting to use your .308 as a predator rifle you might want something with a heavy carbon steel barrel for multiple shots (maybe the savage 10 FCP?). If you're worried about pelts, Hornady does make v-max bullets (I think in 150 grain), but they definitely cost an arm and a leg. However, if you end up feeling really comfortable with your primary rifle, why switch guns?

check your states regulations before shooting anything other than targets with fmj's it is illegal in ky and probably other states,even on coyotes..

You can't go wrong with 308,I have shot bear,deer,hogs with mine,love the Hornady HPBT 168 gr bullet stops them all !

If Your hunting Coyotes I would reccomend the Calibers Sheridan mentioned...even the .22 Hornet would work just as well.I have a Browning .243 A-bolt Hunter that I use for Deer Hunting with 100 grain Hornady Custom shell's and I use it for Predator Hunting also...the 10 grain bullets are a little too heavy and I was thinking about getting some lighter bullets around 5-60 grains but I don't really want to change it and re-sight it?I'm considering getting the CZ-USA American .204 in the Walnut Stock and using 40 grain or less Hornady or the Sierra Blitz Kings?

My Friend bought a Savage Edge (Axis now) in a .223 in the Synthetic black stock with the Bushnell scope combo and its a great shooting Rifle and the .223 has more choices of different grain bullets to shot and they are very reasonably priced!I'm thinking the package Rifle cost around $359.00 total?

The .308 is a great round but I also prefer the 7-08.Don't worry about ammo availability.Ammo for the 7-08 is not hard to find.Certainly not with all the time you have before next season and online shopping.
