savage model 111 or Remington 770???? 30-06

Finally have broken down my choices for my rifle. Its either between the savage model 111 or remington 770. Which one do u think would be best?? Big 5 has the savage at 399 and the rem 770 is 349... please help thank you!

For that amount of money I believe that you can still find a 700 ADL, which is substantially better that the two mentioned.

Maybe but the two do come with scopes...that might be the difference

Last year I bought a rem 700 @ package deal for $407.To be honest with you I didn't like the scope & replaced it.
But to answer your question I would pick the savage over the rem 770

By all means pick the Savage 111 over the Remington 770! If I was you I'd shy away from the combo and put a better scope on it. You can get a Nikon Prostaff 3x-9x-40mm for around 150-160$. The combo deals ain't such great deals when you consider they put the cheapest scope on them as they can.

Savage has my vote.

I say Ruger M77 Hawkeye,.... but Savage is also A good gun.

Definitely the Savage, maybe even over the Rem 700ADL. Also, Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 for 99.95 at Natchez Shooters Supply.

I would go with the Savage, just an all around better rifle.

Not even a contest, go with the Savage 111. Odd how certain rifles are mentioned in threads where the OP never even asked about them, methinks some posters have problems with reading comprehension :D

ADL=Accidental Discharge Likely

Mostly media B.S. or poor trigger adjustment.

Yeah I saw that reported by the left wing anti gun news media, must be true, I mean, they wouldnt want to ruin the reputation of the worlds largest firearms manufacturer, now would they?:rolleyes:

Remington 700s are completely safe, given the triggers are properly adjusted.

That may have happened a few times AFTER people mess with the trigger when they don't know what they are doing. I have an ADL that has a sweet factory trigger, never messed with it and never had any issues.

I saw a stainless ADL at Dicks for $399.00 about a week ago. There are still some new ones out there to be had.

I would go savage. It's a solid rifle that is always accurate. I have a few of them and they all shoot well.

Savage 111.
