Ruger M77 Mark II 7MM mag
Never shot a Ruger bolt gun. How are they? How hard are the triggers to adjust? Might have a line on one.

Ruger makes a fine bolt action rifles. I own 2 of them one in a 30-06 and 300 win mag. Both are very accurate. Ruger makes a fine trigger as well, however I would get a reliable gunsmith to adjust it. Mine are set at 2.5lb with 0 creep and no overtravel. I think you would be happy with a M77.

I hope he's still interested. Good looking gun. Id like to have it.

Good, solid rifles. I think they're a little ugly but other than that..... :D

Ruger makes a very strong and reliable rifle. |
Is the Timney pretty much the market standard as far as aftermarket triggers go?

I believe that it is. They have been around for a long time and the price is good. I have installed Timney triggers myself on a few of my Rugers and have been happy with them.

I've had my M77 Mk II all-weather .300 Win Mag for 15 years. I've never missed an animal with it and never had one go over 10 yards. Numerous whitetail bucks (and a few does), 2 elk, a muley buck and a black bear. Shoots cloverleaf groups at 100 yards with anything I feed it.

Well I got the gun lastnight. Heck of a trade! Gun is buttery smooth. I might try the trigger as is. It's pretty heavy, but crisp. I'd just about take heavy and crisp over light but has some travel in it. Gun is beautiful and in like new condition. b

My trigger is 6 lbs. but no travel, crisp and breaks like glass. I shoot cloverleaf groups with it. If you aim and sqeeze correctly it works fine. I just looked into getting the weight dropped to 4 lbs. by the gunsmiths at Ganders and it will cost about $60.

Not much more than that and you can put a user friendly timney in it yourself. I may try it out as is and see how it (read "I") does(do) lol.

I have never met a guy that was unhappy with his M77. I see them used everywhere from the Rockies to Africa (something I can not say for all USA brands of rifles).
