New to Hunting..Which hunting rifle is top quality for around $600.

How's everyone one doing today.. recently I went hunting with my dad and shot his bar 30-06... ifell in love with the 30-06 and now im thinking about getting my own...I wondering what rifle would b best for the money.. I was looking into remington but heard they jam and tend to have problems. Im looking for a rifle with less problems...power...accuracy ..looks...and that can last a lifetime. My price range is round $600.. please any feedback would be helpful ..thank you

savage ruger or weatherby are all very good rifles, the savage can be rebarreled real easy and is dead accurate out of the box.try them on for size and see what fits you.also TC venture can be had very reason able

How much is the BAR now? When I got mine they were $650 but that was 15 years ago. I absolutely love it and wouldn't part with it for anything. It is a pretty gun, but she doesn't get to sit around and get by on her looks. She has to go to the woods every year with me and earn her keep. :)

You heard wrong about the Remington. The 700 series is an excellent rifle. There is quite a bit of B.S. on the internet.

Ruger, Remington, Winchester, Browning, Sako and and others all produce good products that will give you a lifetime of troublefree service. Savage is OK, and is a good product for the price. Some guys like Savage, others don't.

The 700 is a well built bolt action rifle. The 700 action (or a near copy of the 700 action) is the most commonly used action for target rifles. Most U.S. military bolt action sniper rifles are 700s. The bolt is simple and strong, and the lock time (time between the trigger being pulled and the firing pin striking) is very fast. The trigger is adjustable, but must be adjusted by someone that knows how to do it right or it can be be adjusted to an unsafe condition.

The new Savages are very nice rifles and are hard to beat in that price range.

I was thinking about the bolt actions instead of the semi auto...isn't the bolt action rifles more accurate then semi auto?
