My new Toy
3 Attachment(s)
Been using my trusty Ruger M77 Mk II all-weather .300 Win Mag for 15 years and it's put down lot's of game.
I decided to back off next year so bought a new toy. A Remington 700 SPS Buckmasters in .270 Win. What do ya think? Did I do okay? |
I have the same rifle, Remington 700 SPS buckmaster, but in the .243 caliber and no problems at all with it. It shoots very well also.
|
Hard to argue with any 700.
|
I "almost" bought the .243. I liked the short action, but if you look at ammo prices .270 is cheaper then .243 for some reason.
|
Nice new toy. I like the short actions also. I've got 700's in .243 and 7mm-08. Usually find the .243 stuff for about the same price as .270 and .30-06. But, the 7mm-08's usually cost a little more.
|
Nice Buy! SHould make you happy. I probably woulda went with a short action too as others have mentioned, but certainly can't argue against the .270

Got two boxes of Hornady Custom 130 gr. from Cabela's for $17 a box so will be sighting it in one of these weekends....

That's a very nice rifle! Nothing wrong with .270 either. Out to 300 yards or so it should kill most deer just as dead as the 300 mag did.
|
Great rifle, you cant go wrong with the caliber or the gun.

I was looking at the 30-06 model with a Nikon Buckmaster 9x40 at Dick's Sporting Goods yesterday. The gum seems to be well balanced. The bottom discharge through the floor plate is nice touch as well. I think I'm going to pick up at Xmas. At $560, seems to be a good deal. |

My deceased FIL flew P-38's in the Pacific in WWII and I "used" to design them for Microsoft's Flight Simulator (PC). I love the old warbirds so that has been my online title for years. Check out this Hellcat I designed and animated (using special software). Our partner in Greece paints them. This was a big seller. It's a hobby or rather was.

I also have the 700 SPS in .243 very accurate and a pleasure to shoot |
Nice looking rifle, I have 3 700 rifles and there all fine rifles
|
I'm going nuts trying to get out and shoot it. It's tough to do at X-Mas time. Probably won't get it done until after New Years....
jeepkid, buy Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2004 and I'll give you the planes to load into the game. |
