Citori Hunter O/U Newbie Question
 

I have been looking at some o/u's and most are out of my price range. I have though seen that the Citori Hunter O/U can be had around $1100-$1200 but it is chambered for 3 1/2. I am guessing that the 3 1/2 would kick like a pissed of mule and honestly don't see myself shooting a 3 1/2 through it that often. I am fairly new to shotguns so please excuse the newbie question but I was wandering if this gun would shoot just as well using 3" or 2 3/4" shells out of it? I would rather have one chambered for 3" but for the price difference if the citori hunter will shoot them fine then this might be the fit for me. Thanks for any advice

It should shoot both the 2 3/4" and the 3" just fine.... You may want to pattern it @ 30 yds. to see what shot size it likes best.

What are you wanting to shoot with 3 1/2" magnums ?


Other then Turkeys and Geese, 2 3/4" should be just fine.

Maybe 3" loads for pass shooting ducks.

No problem....it'll shoot the shorter ammo just fine.....but here's the rub...Because the 3 1/2" gun actually is built to the somewhat higher SAAMI pressures of the 3 1/2" shell it might weigh more.

Check out the weight of the gun before buying it.....I'm not sure the Browning website includes the weight of that gun.

BTW.....I have the SKB 505 field in 3" 12 Ga and 26" barrels....it's a very fine alternative and I'm like you.....no need for the 3 1/2" gun. And as a little kicker, it's a few dollars less!

I wanted a Beretta and ended up with a Stoeger Condor O/U. ($$$$)

For cheap ($400) you get a very good O/U. Not a piece of junk like the other cheap ones out there.
