I love my 7mm for shots under 100 yards wouldn't have it any other way. never used a 300 so i cant say anything about them.

when i hit them with 7mm they don't go anywhere

my 7mm savage is unported so it didnt feel to good at the range, but i put a nice recoil pad on it after the first year with it and it helps some when shooting at the range. do most of my practice shooting with a scoped 22 rifle so it keeps things in perspective.

I usually call in strikes from the USS Wisconsin.....those 16" guns really put whitetails down fast. If the ship is not available you can get by with a .270 Winchester!

Well if i were u i would use a 30-06 for a whitetail or a 270.
I like to use a 30-06 and ive already killed a monster this year.
