Remington 870 at the range
Went to the range today and shot today (in the wind). I had 4 different slugs to try out of the my new 870 w/ heavy hastings barrel.
I'll take this out of a slug shotgun any day. 100 yard three shot groups. 2 slugs grouped very well 2 were just terrible. All were 2.75" slugs. Winchester Supreme-Partition Gold ![]() Federal - Barnes Expander Tip ![]() Winchester Supreme - Platinum Tip ![]() Remington Copper Solid ![]() Now for the question. Does anyone have any experience hitting whitetails with either the Winchester Supreme-Partition Gold or the Federal - Barnes Expander Tip? Mitch |
No Hornady SST's? I have good luck luck with those in my 870 rifled barrel. Ballistics show that it is the flatest shooting Sabot on the market.

that kind of grouping i would take from a shotgun any day. hell i know some guys whose rifles don't shoot that well.

They both put the smack down on deer

I can't answer your question, but excellent groupings! You should be really satisfied with that! I'm impressed.

Thanks for posting, this shows that 1 gun performs differently with different ammo. Also, good shooting, I would not be depressed at all with some of those groups. I think it would be safe to say that you have found the ammo you will be hunting with....GOOD SHOOTING and thanks for posting.
