RE: Best Round for 308 Winchester
A good 165gr bullet in you .308 Win. would be a hard bullet to beat. There are several very good to excellent bullets in 165gr if you reload. Personally, I use Speer 165gr Grand Slams, Nosler 165gr Ballistic Tips, and the 165gr Sierra Gameking HPBT. I have had excellent results with these bullets and their effect on deer.
For factory ammo, I like the Federal 165gr Trophy Bonded Bear Claw load. But it is a little pricey, though. |
RE: Best Round for 308 Winchester
165 gr. Nosler would be a good one.
Most .308's like bullets from 150 to 165 gr. |
RE: Best Round for 308 Winchester

RE: Best Round for 308 Winchester
125's for varmints, 150's for general purpose hunting and 165 or 168's for longer shots at game or paper respectivly.

150 gr. soft points. To me there is no other option! I cant remember the last time I've shot more than one shot at the same deer. (Unless I missed the first one!)
I've even carved "One shot, one kill." on the butt stock |
