Anybody own 300whisper?

Seen one shoot with a can and it was very accurate, and of course dead quiet.

I watched a video a while back. This guy's wife was on safari. No clue what she was shooting but on the end of the barrel was something that looked like a can, about the size of a soda can. Is that what you're talking about? They never explained what the thing was.

Can/Silencer/sound suppressor. All the same thing.

300whisper is a round that is a 221fireball or 223 necked up to 308 and shot with a 220-240gr high BC bullet that will stay subsonic so it can be silenced.

Just because she had a sound suppressor doens't exactly mean she was shooting a whisper round.

Just wondering if anyone owned one on here. I saw on an AR lower that was dead quiet. Impressed with the accuracy.

So, a 240 gr bullet at less than 1,126 fps. I'm sure it will kill deer, but what kind of effective range do you expect?

Thats the beauty of running below the sound barrier. As long as your velocity's std dev or spread is low (like 5-10fps) there is no limit of effective range until the bullet runs out of steam. Using a 240gr matchking with a bullistic Coef of over .6 starting out at 1086fps, you only go down to 900fps at 400 yards. Thats whats so great about high BC.

Your limit most likely will be your scope elevation adjustment. With 100 yard zero, you would have to raise elevation 50MOA to hit at 400 yards. Most target scopes run out of elevation adjustment at 56MOA. Thats using a 30MOA base.

I would think that range would be limited to how accurate you are. There wouldn't be much expantion with that velocity and if they designed a bullet that did expand, penetration would be limited. It's my understanding that you need to take head or neck shots with this round. You could probably get a through and through on a deer if shot behind the shoulder, but it would be like using an arrow with a field point on it.

240gr of lead at 900fps and you don't think you could get the job done??? Ok.
