Marlin here. I like the looks and feel of em better. My cousin has a xl7 in 270 and he swears it's more accurate than his Remington 700 30-06

Out of those two, no question... Marlin XS-7. It has received great user reviews from every member here that has shot one (I don't recall a single negative comment from anyone here), and.... the Edge is probably the single ugliest bolt action rifle ever.

I vote for the Marlin. 100%. The savage is butt ugly to put it nicely. You can also acquire a nice laminated wood stock for the XS/XL series from Boyds if you are so inclined. I have only had my XS7 for a short time, but after sighting in, have fired more than one group I could cover with a penny. It also has the same or similiar means of attaching the barrel to the receiver as the Savage 10/110 series, which many claim helps savage with their reputation for accuracy. Trigger was also very nice right from the factory.

I would seriously take my 100 dollar mosin nagant deer hunting to 150 yards. It doesn't take much, to do what you need the gun to do.

Went with the Marlin XS7 in .243. Mounted a Nikon Monarch 3-9 x 40, boresighted it, and took it to the range. My son's first group from the bench at 50 yds. were all touching in the bull. Went to 100 yds. and shot consistent 1.5" groups... very pleased.
