Accurate .22 Rimfires
 

Hi,

What .22 rimfires are currently on the market that are squirrel-in-the-eye accurate? I've been shooting a 10-22 with replacement trigger for several years that puts three in an inch dot at 30 yards each September when I check it's zero. I need something that is at least that accurate and is in any action other than semi-auto. Also, I can't shell out the cash for a Kimber and prefer not to lug around a buick.

Any guidance?

The CZ .22s are good solid bolts actions that shoot very well. They are mid-level priced and have a reputation for fine accuracy. Check out rimfirecentral.com (RFC) to read some reviews.

I have a new savage bolt action that I'm falling in love with. There are several configurations of the Mark II's to suit your fancy. NEF/H&R have some very inexpensive little single-shots that are very accurate. I had one in .22mag with a black synthetic stock. It was capable of jaw-dropping accuracy considering its $100 price tag. The only reason I got rid of it was due to the cost of the .22mag shells. They also have it in .22LR and the .17's

CZ...Savage MKII's (very accurate) even the Marlin's are more than accurate enough. Member, you don't need "eyeball accuracy, you need, "kill zone" accuracy. BIG difference.

last time i had my marlin 982vs 22 mag out i was managing to break charcoal clumps roughly 90% of the time at 275-290 yards. if thats not accurate enough for you then i think your stuck with buying a custom built rifle or a high end euro .22 of some sort. i know marlin doesnt have the same reputation as savage or cz and they definitely dont have triggers anywhere near as good as the accutrigger but i have complete confidence in my .22 as being my go to crow rifle and long range rabit rifle.

What??? Nobody shoots Rem. 541 T's or S grade?? Still avail. used if you look a bit..............

I do shoot a 541 T (much more than any other firearm that I own). They are getting hard to find in really good shape and expensive. The 541 is a beauty and can be amazingly accurate with the right ammo. I think you can pick up a new CZ for about half of the asking prices that I have been seeing for the last couple of years for a good 541.

The 10/22 is hard to beat for affordable accuracy. If you're looking for something OTHER THAN A BOLT, then the Savage bolt guns are hard to beat.

I picked up a Savage Mark II BSEV for my fiancee last fall, at 50yrds, on rapid fire (10 sec per shot) she regularly shoots less than 1/2". Plus it's a great looking rifle, runs around $450. FANTASTIC trigger. Pretty lightweight rifle, especially for a heavy barrel.
