I have several Marlins now. I used to just have one ole 94 winchester 30-30 that killed elk and deer. But I'm really liking the new marlins. They shoot very well. I have a 444marlin, 45lc, 41rem mag, and a 30-30 all in new marlins. I'm convinced.
I don't use them much anymore but on a real snowy day tracking elk through the timber there's not a better rifle out there to use. Non scoped of course.

I also have a marlin 45-70 that I hunt with from time to time. Any more, I try to stick to calibers with less push.

I have a Marlin 336 in 30/30 and a Browning BLR in 243. My BIL has a Browning BLR in 308 which he used to take a nice ten point last year. We inherited these from my stepfather when he passed away last year. I had used the gun that is BIL's now to take a decent eight point a few years ago.

I have a '70's era Glendfield .30-30 that I love... I've killed several hogs and a couple deer with it since my ex wife bought it for me several years ago....
forgot to mention that i watched my mom kill whitetail at ranges out to 200+ yds with her marlin 336 all the time i was growing up...

I have a 40's era 94 in 30-30, haven't shot anything but cans with it.
I also hunt with a Marlin 1895 in 45-70. Now that is a fun gun, no trophy bucks with it yet but the does I have shot landed flat on their backs. Very easy tracking job!

I have a Marlin 1895 SS in 45/70. Have shot deer with it, but nothing noteworthy. The bullet doesn't care if the deer is a "trophy" buck, a spikehorn, or a doe. They all end up just as dead when hit where they should be.

Marlin 336 in 30-30, after using bolt action 30-06 for years I decided to try a 30-30. After one season I haven't gone back, Lever gun just feels "right". I see no reason using bigger caliber gun for deer. Every deer shot with 30-30 have been one shot kills, anywhere from 15 to 150 yards. Dont underestimate the 30-30.

IMO bolt guns are a more practical choice than lever actions, they are easier to clean and maintain, easier to sight in, less parts, triggers are generally better, and more adjustable, theyre generally more accurate, wider variety of calibers, shoot farther, tubular magazines and the ammo youre resticted to sucks, many lever guns dont come in stainless, and hardly any come in a synthetic stock, which makes them less weather resistant, scope use is more awkward since most lever action stocks are designed for use w/ sights.
Lever actions are very cool, and they are defiantly a better choice than say a slug gun or a SKS, but they simply cant compete w/ most modern bolt actions.

I still hunt with an old Marlin 336 .35 Rem that was my grandfathers. I pick this gun out of the safe a lot more often than my .270 7400. I am also picking up my new 1895GBL today in .45-70. THere is just something about a lever gun that works for me.

I have 2. An old Win 94 in .30-30 that I haven't hunted with yet. But my out and out favorite is my Marlin 1895 Guide Gun in .45-70. I haven't shot a deer with it yet but I have taken 3 black bear - one shot each. Its short, light and packs a punch. (I do have the older model with the ported barrel)
