New Barrerl ?

How do I break in a new barrel?

Lots of theories out there...but i kinda like the

Shoot 1x, clean
Shoot 2x, clean
Shoot 3x, clean
and continue until you have shot 10x, after that however you prefer...

and i clean after every shot for at least a box, which is ok, cause tryin to zero and have fun, but take er slo n steady. when i say clean, run a brush and a nap til its clean

I just go for the 'shoot it' approach.

BTW - I agree, if you're serious.................get it hand lapped first.

Larry Potterfeild brake in clean after every shot for the first 5 then every 5 shots to 40 it will work just like having your barrel lapped.Works for me

RR

gonna have to disagree with you.
putting rounds down the barrell laps it, removing the copper between round helps the polishing process.
A handlapped barrel is like putting 100 rounds down the pipe.

So theres two ways to get there either by shooting it, or hand lapping it.
