The rifle I keep at my house for home protection is a Marlin 1894 in 44 magnum. I load a reduced load of Alliant 2400, and I cast my bullets from pure lead, and keep the velocity right under 1,000 fps from the rifle. It is a fantastic home protection firearm. And it will also reach out to 100 yards if it had to. But that is not it's purpose. It's main purpose is to be a light recoiling home protection firearm. Tom.

Marlin doesn't make rifles anymore. It's Remington that is making them.

Remington doesn't make Marlin rifles. Cerberus Capital Management owns both manufacturers, as well as Bushmaster and DPMS. When it comes to lever action rifles I'm partial to Marlin, they make a great gun.

Default Lever rifle

Don't overlook the Savage '99's. Better yet, please do. That would leave one more for me!
