HI ALL,

I AM NEW TO THIS SITE AND HAVE A QUESTION FOR ANYONE WHO CAN HELP.

I PURCHASED A NEW REMINGTON MODEL 700 THAT HAS A SYNTHETIC STOCK, 25 1/2 INCH S/S BARREL FACTORY MUZZLE BRAKE CHAMBERED IN 300 WEATHERBY MAG. FOR $600.THE RIFLE SHOOTS INCREDIBLE GROUPS AND SOME FRIENDS AND I DECIDED WE WOULD LIKE TO GET ANOTHER IN DIFERRENT CAL.
I LOOKED AT REMINGTONS WEB SITE AND COULD NOT FIND THIS RIFLE CHAMBERED IN 300 WEATHERBY MAG AND WONDERED HOW I CAME ACROSS ONE, ( IT OFFERED 2 OTHERS).MY QUESTIONS ARE, DID I PAY A FAIR PRICE, WAS THIS RIFLE DISCONTINUED, WAS IT A SPECIAL ORDER ETC. ANY INFORMATION YOU MAY HAVE WOULD BE HELPFUL

Remington offered the 700 BDLSS DMB in .300 Wby Mag in the 1997 catalog only. It had a MSRP of $ 789.00. It was chambered in .300 Wby Mag minus the muzzle break from '96-'99. Remington dropped the .300 Wby Mag chambering for the 2000 catalog year. They probably dropped it because of the introduction of the .300 Rem Ultra Mag in '99.

I have one - minus the brake - that I bought in '99. Mine shoots excellent groups also. I would say if the rifle you bought was new unfired that you got an excellent deal.

Remington discontinued the 300 weatherby as they will the 7mmstw in order to promote the ultra mag calibers.If you want a similar gun buy the new 300 ultramag.
