Favorite caliber/load for whitetails....

If you had to pick only ONE caliber and load to hunt whitetails with, what would it be?

Shots could be anywhere from 50 to 250 yards in this scenario.

Just always interested to see what peoples "go to" gun, caliber, load, is for different animals.

look forward to seeing the results!

P.S. One choice for me would be hard.....but I would have to say the old .30-06 with 165gr. Accubonds.

.270 win with 140 gr hornady interlocks loaded hot as you can get em was my medicine for awhile. Now im really impressed with 110 gr accubonds atop 57 grains of IMR 4831 right now. Also 130 gr nosler ballistic tips with same powder, Ive loaded those for a friend and hes happy with them.

The olny dedicated deer&? rifle I currently own, is a remington 700, 7mm08. The load Im useing is a 154gr hornady w/ 48gr H4350 (about 2600fps) I bought a ton of these bullets cause they were on sale but they shoot really good in my gun. My range only goes out to 200yds but zeroed 1" high @ 100yds, puts me about 3" low at 200. I can put 3 quick shots in a paper plate at 200, just resting the forend. For where I hunt, I cant ask for more. Ive only killed 1 deer w/ this rifle. Ive killed most of my other deer w/ my savage .50 and my bow. here's my 7-08Attachment 9772

Since 1980 I have only owned one centerfire deer rifle, it's taken about 200 deer with various factory loadings, I keep coming back to the Remington 100gr CoreLokts...They have accounted for at least 75 deer...The rifle is a Ruger M-77 in .243 caliber and was bought with a Bushnell ScopeChief but that was replaced about 10 years ago with a Leupold VX-II...

I hunt the thick of New England where shots can range 10 -200 yards...50-100 is the norm. I tote a Marlin 336 in .35 Rem which is the ultimate woods rifle. I have several other calibers but the 35 has become my fav. My new 7mm-08 Prohunter will see some woods this fall as well.
