What small caliber for a lady?

New guy here.

Looking for opinions on what small caliber choice for my wife?
She is pretty small so I dont want it to have a lot of recoil.
maybe like a .243 or smaller. She needs to be able to take it to the range and shoot it comfortabely for a few hours and be able to take it to the field with me and take varmint all the way up to white tail's.

Any opinions would greatly be appreciated.

A .243 will take out anything up to deer-sized with very little recoil. If you don't handload, you have a pretty good selection of factory rounds.

Well, I'm no lady...:)

I only own one centerfire, a .243 and it has worked well on varmits, including deer and black bear since 1980...

A box of CoreLokts is still $20 at WalMart...

A .243 is accurate, deadly, ammo is easy to find and as cheap as any cartridge...

A .243win is the way to go. Make sure you go with the .243 win and not the .243 wsm. You'll have much better luck finding various types of ammo with it.

243 with 80-100grn rounds will do the job just fine.

243 or 7mm-08. The 7mm you can shoot heavier bullets with.

.243 or .25-06 should be fine too. I'd lean towards the .243 personally.

How about a 22-250?

Might want to check local laws as some states do not allow .22cal for deer.

How far are ya shootin'? For woods hunting a .357 magnum in a lever carbine is a *****cat to shoot and it pounds deer.
