Default .30-30 iron sights at 100 yards

First time I got to shoot my Marlin .30-30 out to 100 yards. This would be the max distance I can ever imagine me taking in my neck of the woods.

I had a couple fliers but here is where I left my rear sight ramp at when I left for the day.

100 yard iron sights.

Not the best grouping I dont feel but does anyone know off hand where by hits will be say at 5-00 to 75 yards if this is 100 yards average at 3" high? the black target is an 8" dia so the top 1/2 is 4" from center.

Thanks for the help!!

With a group like that, I'd not venture a guess, though I would go shoot some more.

That's what I was thinking as well. My first group was low 4" and spread about 4"

I will need to come back and see what happens.
This was the last group of the day and I was getting fatiged a tad after all the AR shooting and handgun shooting in the heat today.

Was that off a solid rest ?

You can get better groups than that......................

Not a good rest. I was leaning way down to get on target. I will head back with a better mindset and not rush it as well.

In any case, your point of impact at 50 or 75 yards is going to be within an inch or so of where it is at 100 yards...

also, id suggest a different target....

some guys can shoot alright on a big target like that...

personally, i cant...

"aim small miss small"

my targets always have something about as small as i can possibly see to aim at...

iron sights thats gunna be larger..but an orange sticker bullseye or something on that target aughta do the trick...

with a scope i use white computer paper and take a marker and make a dot about 1/4" or a hair bigger in diameter..i can bareeeeely make it out...but, i shoot better when shooting in than anything else..

good luck!

like was said, 50-100 your within an inch give or take...if your MAX range is 100yds it does no good to be high at 100yds...check 25-50-75 and 100yds...zero it for where you are most likely to shoot in your woods...and know where it hits at different ranges...nice thing about close range huntin is theres nothing to remember as its within an inch or so...

I agree with Mauser06, cut out a white paper circle and tape it in the center of the black target and watch your groups shrink.
